Jardins écologiques - Sophie Barbaux

Bilingual Edition, ICI Interface, Paris, France, 2010. DR.
ICI edition is a demonstration of what green can mean in its plain signification, because the principle of its entire collection is about landscapes and their creators. In the book Jardins écologiques, (ecological gardens), ecology, source of creation, planned and written by Sophie Barbaux, the research was ecological concepts oriented, a target which is revealed by the chapters, all titled by verbs expressing a great consciousness. It does not really matter if we are into this perspective or not, the essential is to get a view of a worldwide show of spaces that have been thought for the outside. We still can admire imagination of the spirits, and appreciate the variety of purposes in staging a site, interpreting its landscapist or architect intentions. In all cases, lasting or temporary projects, conviviality, sharing seem to be a general growing factor, as though human relationships could reach now a central place. It is to be quoted that each access presents a technical specification sheet, and is also part of the author’s point of view, not hiding its didactic process.

ecodesign – Silvia Barbero, Brunella Cozzo

Ullmann publishing, 2009. DR.
The ecodesign book is an ecological belief in the future, at least a strong suggestion of what could be tomorrow if only some considerations would be part of the industrial production. Thanks to a catalog of everyday human tools and services, from home appliances to shared objects of services and transport means, the idea is to think each novelty as a reduced carbon production, made in minimum volumes and material, including its packaging and recyclable and effectively reused, and possibly, a necessity. Don’t you think necessity should be its first quality, be certain of the utility to launch on the market a new material existence, which also implies the researches could be out of a profitable cycle? If we are not sure all products entries deserve the palm of ethical equity, some pieces are aesthetic, we must admit our pleasure to get so many concepts and objects in one book, very well illustrated and giving links to designers and manufacturers. So ideas can be followed in time.

Designing Design - Kenya Hara

Designing Design explores the nothingness, an asiatic concept that supports creations, where white is used as an escape from colours, to leave a greater place for the material. The strengh of the book by Kenya Hara is the richness of experiences he organized and which are well illustrated here. More than a text, this artistic object is an invitation to travel and feel the expressivity of minimalism through exhibitions, workshops and analysis, with a preface signed by Li Edelkoort, John Maeda, Jasper Morrison.
