The coming back to international meetings in Milan, in good conditions, was a real expectation. This month confirmed the health of the world of Design, both industrial and artisanal at the Rho Exhibition Fair from 18 to 23 April 2023. Light stood there as a Queen.
The official Milan fair made it obvious, the furniture sector remains strong. In 2023, we also had to consider Euroluce, where expressiveness reaches its peak. What to be remembered from this year’s theatrical scenographies? Without a doubt, Artemide’s Se|eS mirror, made of a disc with two reflective sides and whose light production is limited to a ribbon in outline, a tool for enhancing the environment. The Workmates ceiling staircase set by Flos (Architectural range) guarantees its effect as a fire-breathing monster skeleton.
Ingo Maurer House multiplies its surprises, especially with the Pic-a-stic pendant lamp, mikado-style, to be chosen between black and white or bright colours. In collaboration with BIG, Catellani & Smith offers the Ettorino floor lamp, a balancing articulated body that projects two lights, a halo upwards and a support downwards. Its tubular body is dressed in black and white or a strong combination of blue, yellow and red.
Reduced to minimum, Davide Groppi’s Utopia draws lines in space, fixed on the wall by effective pieces of silver-plated metal. Two products stay in mind, as ornamental although discreet. First Illan, designed for Luceplan by Zsuzsanna Horvath, made of a series of rounded wires, adapts to a wall-mounted ceiling version. Then Infinita by Martinelli Luce that creates in a transparent borosilicate glass, a series of pieces that simply display their bulbs. Enough to rethink your equipment at home.
