The young generation at Salone di Milano, Satellite section shows a great attention to the quality of its concepts and an economy in the use of material. Illustrated by this selection which is fairly essential from any part of the world.
In the Satellite, at Rho Salone del Mobile, a group of young Japanese designers has been gathered by Honoka for the Tatami Re-Fab Project, giving a new life to used tatami fiber. With a natural resin base, it is then 3D Printed into pieces of translucid algae green. Hereby a collection of furniture by designer Ryo Suzuki.
Other examples of savings are Karyn Lim’s tables in recycled PET for her SoPlast!c line, or the japanese architect Hideyuki Yamazawa’s table in resin called Brilliance, part of the Re-generate Life (Swarm) production.
Both projects from the Korean Daeing Kan and from the Spanish Otavio Asensio are remarquably skinny. The first one presents Siipi chair, as thin as a folded leaf when the second plays with volumetric effects, with his table Occu, showing a thin profile and a plain face. The Belgium Joe Sterck proposes a sculptural table or a spinning top in aluminium, Speculum (Belgium is Design).
